The Anu & Naveen Jain Women's Safety XPRIZE is privileged to work with an expert set of judges who will ensure a fair and rigorous competition. Their professional insight will be imperative as we look to award teams who have successfully developed technologies to ensure safety for women across the world.


Lauren C. Anderson

 

An internationally recognized geopolitical and international security consultant, and a distinguished former FBI executive, Lauren C. Anderson is committed to investing in women and youth around the world to prevent conflict, advocate for social justice, and address economic disparities. At the FBI she was a national security expert, where she oversaw investigative applications of some of the most sophisticated and sensitive technologies used by the US Intelligence Community. An Advisor to the US Comptroller General at the Government Accountability Office, Anderson is a Global Ambassador with Vital Voices, the Global Board Chair of the Red Dot Foundation/Safecity, and sits on the Boards of Project Liberation, BD Foundation (India), and the Alumni Board at Muhlenberg College. She is an Advisor for the documentary film, The Uncondemned, and an expert with the Women’s Media Center. She is a graduate of Muhlenberg College and Executive programs at the Harvard Business School and the Cambridge Judge Business School.


Judy Feng

 

Judy Feng is an Antenna Engineering Program Manager at Apple, Inc. Her experience includes eight years in the Defense Sector as a Principal Antenna Design Engineer at BAE Systems in the Electronic Warfare and Information System & Technology sectors. More recently, she worked at AMI Research & Development, LLC for 5 years as an Engineering Manager, and was one of the founding members of the startup leading a multitude of projects. She holds an M.S. in Electrical Engineering with a concentration in Applied Electromagnetics, and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Feng holds 17 patents and has 10 publications.


Dr. Shruti Kapoor

 

Dr. Shruti Kapoor is an award-winning gender equality activist, economist, and social entrepreneur who is passionate about the safety of girls and women. Shaken by the horrific gang rape in Delhi 2012, she founded her organization, Sayfty in June 2013 to educate and empower the women and girls of India against violence. Dr. Kapoor holds a Ph.D. in Economics from University of California, Riverside, and has worked at international organizations like The World Bank and UN Women. She served as an Adjunct Professor of Economics at Occidental College in Los Angeles teaching economics to students. Dr. Kapoor is the co-chair of UN Women’s Task Force for Young Women’s Economic Empowerment and is an active member of the UN Inter-Agency Network on Youth Development Working Group on Youth and Gender Equality Task Force. She served on the core organizing committee of the UN’s Youth Forum for the Commission on the Status of Women 2017.


Nic McKinley

 

Nic McKinley is the founder and Executive Director of DeliverFund, a nonprofit private intelligence organization. As an Operative who served as a Country Chief for a Special Unit within the CIA, McKinley witnessed not only the epidemic of child trafficking within illicit markets, but also the unrealized opportunity to apply his understanding and training to influence this global crisis. McKinley spent 11 years in US Special Operations as an Air Force Pararescueman prior to being recruited to the Central Intelligence Agency. Due to his highly specialized training and experience in both special and intelligence operations, McKinley has a firm understanding about these illicit, illegal markets and has the highest levels of training to effectively combat them.


Gioia Messinger

 

Gioia Messinger is an accomplished serial entrepreneur and executive with an extensive background in connected devices, digital health, robotics/AI, and video technologies. She serves as founder and Principal of LinkedObjects, Inc., a technology and business strategy firm specialized in the Internet of Things, and as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at the University of California, San Diego.   Messinger was the Chief Judge for the Qualcomm Tricorder XPRIZE, a $10 million competition to bring healthcare to the palm of your hands, and the Nokia Sensing XCHALLENGE, a competition to transform medical sensors.

She received her Master's degree in Business Administration, with highest distinction, from the Paul Merage School of Business at the University of California, Irvine and B.S./M.A. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, San Diego.


Shalini Prakash

 

Shalini Prakash believes in the magic that happens at the intersection of entrepreneurship and technology. Her interests lie in understanding how these intersections can be empowered to create transformational solutions for different ecosystems.Currently a Venture Partner at 500Startups, a global venture capital firm and accelerator based in Silicon Valley with a total of over $350 million under management, Prakash takes pride in being at the helm of affairs at the world's most active early-stage investors with a portfolio of over 1,800 companies across 50 countries.


Tyson Woeste

 

Tyson Woeste is an engineer and entrepreneur who has spent his career creating  hardware and software products. He is currently the founder and CEO of Transported, a venture funded startup that lets anyone create virtual reality tours of the world's most interesting places and spaces.

Woeste has an MBA from The Anderson School at UCLA and a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from The University of Victoria.
