Barry Wandel joins the XPRIZE Foundation as a highly skilled, hands-on professional with 18 years of experience in software engineering and team leadership. Mr. Wandel works closely with the CTO and key stakeholders to set the vision for all XPRIZE software. Barry owns the software architecture, development, methodologies, strategic roadmaps, deliveries, testing, and support of all core XPRIZE software, ensuring that the overall capabilities meet the growing needs of the organization.

Prior to joining XPRIZE, Mr. Wandel held several leadership roles where he was responsible for the successful design, development, deployment, and support of cloud-based software applications and infrastructure. In these roles he improved data security and architecture, increased automation, expanded the use of current technologies to build best-in-class software, enhanced development processes and coding standards, while successfully hiring and mentoring talented development teams.

Barry earned his Computer Engineering degree from the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to being an expert in countless technologies and methodologies, he is a long-time ice hockey player and coach. He loves spending time with his family and is passionate about technology for good, lifelong learning and continuous improvement.
